The Highland Lakes Chain of Lakes

The Texas Highland Lakes is a chain of six man-made lakes in Central Texas formed by several dams on the Colorado River starting with Lake Buchanan and ending with Lake Austin,  The dams provide flood control and are used to generate hydroelectric power.  The Colorado River, which had a history of flooding was tamed by the  construction of the dams, all constructed by the Lower Colorado River Authority during the 1930's and 1940's.  Below is a link of each lake and current listings of the waterfront properties available.
